My Little Pony Pinkie Pie and Friends Set

Walmart doesn't get many toy exclusives, especially for My Little Pony however this Christmas they did get an exclusive set of ponies that are blind bag size. The Pinkie Pie and Friends set was available only at Walmart, and came out back in November I believe though its already being clearances out with other Christmas toys.

This cute little set was originally available at Walmart for 20 dollars, however now it is being clearanced out  at 10 dollars in many stores and is not available on their website. If you aren't able to find the set in your store one of your options would be getting it from Amazon through the link above, however it is more expensive there then it is in stores at it almost always is with store exclusives.

Truth be told I find this set just a bit amusing, considering what the name of the set is and who is actually in the set. This set is called 'Pinkie Pie and Friends' but out of the mane 6 it only includes Pinkie Pie, Rarity, Applejack, and Rainbow Dash. Evidently Twilight and Fluttershy aren't her friends in the eyes of Hasbro! Anyway beyond that this is a cute set, 12 pony set with 8 of them not being available as g4's in any other way. A few of the ponies I really like include the blue pony in the top row farthest to the right, her name is Waterfire and she is a g3 pony making her g4 premier.  Another I really like is the only Pegasus in the middle row. Her name is Stardasher, who reminds me a lot of Starsong which is my favorite g3 pony.

Beyond that the facts about this pony is normal, they are the same size as blindbag ponies and have the same molds even. They are nice little toys to have, but considering they are only 2 inches tall they may not be a good idea to get for your little one. It depends on how old your child is, the recommended age being 3 years and up. The packaging of these ponies is okay, it was easy to open and get the ponies out but a few of the Pegasus did get stuck in the plastic and take a bit of work to get out

All in all this is a good set and I highly recommend it for your My Little Pony fan. I just recommend you keep in mind how small these are incase its a little one who tries to put everything in their mouth.

Friendship is Magic Favorite Collection

Toys R Us has recently gotten several My Little Pony exclusives that people are trying to get, especially since they often contain ponies that aren't available in any other form. One of these exclusives is the Favorite Collection,  which includes Nightmare Moon!

This set is available only at Toys R Us, however as usual it can be found at Amazon as well! Infact by clicking the link above you can find it for less then it is at Toys R Us! There's no guarantee how long that will last, but right now they have it for 5 dollars less with free shipping which brings it to be about 10 dollars less! If you are wanting to get this set I would definitely recommend checking Amazon first this time.

These ponies are beautifully done, many of them haven't even had a pony before. Nightmare moon has never had a pony of her own only being available as Princess Luna so this is a great addition to any fans collection. The other ponies that come in this set include Rainbow Dash, Flower Wishes, Lemony Gem, Trixie Lulamoon, DJ P0N3, and Pinkie Pie. However there are problems with this set,  that could be a reason you don't want it. For one thing, every single cutie mark has glitter on it. This kind of makes sense with Nightmare Moon's Cresent because of how her character is, however all the other it just looks sloppily painted on it isn't confined to just the cutiemark its  just a stroke of glitter ontop of the mark. Also this is called the 'favorite collection' however there are two ponies here that I only know of because I looked them up before doing this blog! Lemony Gem, the yellow unicorn, and Flower Wishes, the pink pony with green hair, are both included in this set yet they are only background ponies. Lemony Gem didn't have a name till this set cam out, and Flower Wishes is actually called Daisy in the TV show in one of the very few times someone talks to her! The fact these two are included in the set to me is very odd, they are very pretty ponies but it is still an odd add in. They could have included a brushable big mac, or Doctor Whooves even (or Time Turner depending on how you know him)! I understand a bit why they didn't put in Zecora or a White Celestia, the main reason being is the fact they want more money so they put those as separate ponies to get as Toys R Us exclusives as well. Okay I think its time to move past the pony choice, I could go on and on about it especially how they put in 2 main characters that have millions of toys out already..Another problem I have with this set is how they did Nightmare Moon's hair, for one thing the way its curled against her leg makes it very difficult to do anything with. I ended up having to tuck part of the ends between her legs so she wouldn't have her hair doing psycho. Not only that, the purple to me is a very odd choice, her hair isn't purple as Nightmare Moon its dark blue like the night sky with stars in it. I'm not a fan of tinsel however I could understand having some tinsel in this at least, and of course a different hair color would have been nice. Either way she is very pretty that part is more of a personal preference for me. One of my biggest problems though comes from how they did DJ P0N3, this being her first time as a figurine.
Her hair is beautifully done and the blob of glitter on her cutiemark isn't too bad. However her eyes, well thats a different story. DJ P0N3 has never showed her eyes on the show, so I understand why they didn't do any sign of eyes on her pony. However with the unicorn mold having the slanted eye indent, it makes her look really weird if you look at her with her head turned. It would have been a lot better if they had made a new mold for her, or even if they had taken the Earth pony mold and put a horn in the mold  that would have worked. With the Earth ponies they have a rounded eye, granted it wouldn't have fully covered the glasses but I think it would have looked better then the slanted indent in her glasses.

My final problem with this product though has nothing to do with the ponies itself. Its the packaging, the package unopened is beautiful, with the back having a full version of each of the ponies with their names so you know who you are getting. However opening the package was a completely different story,  with it not being a box it was hard to get to the ponies to begin with and it looked like it was taped up by a tape happy machine.  I ended up having to cut each pony out with the plastic so I could even get them out of the plastic. Also the way they did the hair has made it hard to do anything with several of their hair. The manes were held out to the side making some of them literally stick out to the side without the tape of the plastic thing holding it there. If their hair had been done how it usually is, with it being lightly twisted to the side and held with a bit of tape then these would be a lot easier. However now with some of them it seems it will take getting the hair wet to even try to tame it.

Anyway these ponies are beautifully done and its great to have characters we haven't had before. A lot of things I listed above are personal preferences but they don't stop me from loving this set. Even if I had known about these problems and had the money, I still would have gotten these ponies just because they are beautiful and I love the series. I do highly recommend getting these for your pony fans, I just wanted you to know of the problems  incase your fan is a very picky collector because they may not like some of the problems I listed above.

My Little Pony Stocking Stuffer Ideas

Christmas is coming fast and you may be wondering what to get your My Little Pony fan for the holidays! One thing people have problems figuring out is what to fill the stocking with, some just go with candy but others want a variety of goodies for their loved ones.

This simple bubble wand would be a great addition to any pony fan's stocking. I found this  in the local family dollar store but I'm guessing they can be found in random stores such as Walgreen's and Dollar General as well. The bubble mix in the wand is actually rather good and the set only costs a few dollars, its a cheap but great way to give your child entertainment without having too much of a mess. This however is not the only MLP bubble toy, there are other bubble toys with pinkie pie such as the 3D Bubble Set and the Dip and Squeeze bubble toy that I have not tried yet.

Another stocking stuffer idea is actually something I wrote about in a past blog post. With the booster packs being a great size for a stocking, the trading cards would be a good choice for stocking stuffers. I have found a new place to find the cards, though they are smaller packs then the usual card packs. If you head out to your Dollar Tree you could possibly find mini packs with 3 cards and a tattoo sheet. Sadly with these there is no chance of getting the foil or standee cards, but it is still a nice cheap place to get some extra cards to ad to your collection.

A third idea for stocking stuffers are the My Little Pony blind bag ponies. These ponies are very small, being only two inches tall and they come in a bag  so it is a 'mystery' for you. However there are ways to figure out what pony you are getting from the set, but I will explain those more later. These ponies come in a variety of types, though they have 7 different base molds with the variety coming in the paint and look of the ponies. There are several waves that have come out, some haven't made it to the US while others have made it already. The different waves of these are rather extensive and I will cover them in separate blog posts because of how much detail is needed to explain these ponies. However they are a very good stocking stuffer being only a couple dollars a bag, and you get a card with info on the pony and a pony figurine.

Anyway I hope these stocking stuffer ideas help you figure out a way to fill your My Little Pony fan's Christmas with pony cheer!

Trixie Lulamoon Pony

Sorry the post is late, I had things going on on Monday and wasn't able to get this done.

When you are getting My Little Pony toys that are G4 they typically come with small accessories and can come with a variety of ponies. One of the favorite ponies of the fans is Trixie Lulamoon!

She is definitely a fan favorite although she has only been available in a few forms so far. There have been blind bag versions of her, glitter, solid, and with the 3d Cutiemark. Each of these come with a small trading card as all blind bags do. There have also been regular versions of her with real hair instead of the formed, two of them represent the Royal Wedding while the other is part of a collector set from Toys R Us that I will write about later.

I personally have gotten two different versions of her, one is a regular figure while the other is a glitter pony from a blind bag. The one pictured above is from the Royal Wedding set that came out before the version with the DVD came out.  The only difference I can see between the two ponies is that one has a cardboard picture of Princess Cadence and Shining Armor while the other comes with a mini DVD. The Mini DVD is not a new thing with the My Little Pony Friendship is Magic toys really, there have been random waves that come with a DVD with an episode on it. The episode that comes with Trixie is "Lesson Zero" which you can see a clip from here. The accessories that come with this pony are cute, though the flimsy cardboard picture seems to be a bit odd to include in the set. There are many ways the picture could have been done, but its not too important how this accessory was done. The cute little present can be opened so you can store little items in side, and just like all ponies Trixie came with a comb for her hair. The pony itself was made beautifully, on mine there are no places where there was mishaps with the paint like you sometimes see with figures. I haven't seen a MLP toy have a paint mishap yet and I have quite a few in my collection so far. Her hair is beautiful with plenty of it to comb and play with, unlike many off brand ponies you can buy at discount stores such as Dollar General and Dollar Tree.

For those that have collected My Little Pony in the past, you may be disappointed with the size the g4 ponies typically are. Above is a G3 Skywishes in diva pose next to Trixie, as you can see Trixie is about half the size of a G3 pony. I am not sure how much the G3 ponies cost, I was not into My Little Pony at all at the time, however I do think that the G4 ponies are a relatively fair price at 5 dollars a pony typically. There are more expensive ones of course, they tend to have more accessories or be bigger but the base price when they come out is typically 5 dollars. However Trixie is becoming a pony that is very difficult to find, especially with her being one of many fan's favorite characters. If you are wanting to get a pony of her I would suggest getting one quickly, as with all things collectible, the longer you wait the more it can cost you. If you can't find her in your local toystore, there are places online and Amazon has both the dvd version and regular version of her available here  and here.

I highly recommend getting Trixie if you are a My Little Pony fan or collector, she is a beautiful pony and a great addition to any set.  She is a great toy for children and a great toy for the adult fans as well.
